About Us

The Blog

The Blog of Cars was founded September 19th, 2009, by Igor Magun. He ran it by himself until the blog’s shutdown in October 20th, 2009, as the workload was simply too much for a one man team. Luckily, the blog was started back up again November 5th, 2009, when Alexandru Cascatau offered to help. In doing so, he became the first person to join Igor’s team. Ever since, six more people have joined, dividing up the workload and helping us deliver a better experience for the reader. However, this is still just a hobby for us, and we have other things in our life to keep us busy, which is why we’re always looking for new members on the team.

The blog has changed quite a lot since it was first launched. We started which just a lone blog on Blogetery. Since then, we’ve moved to WordPress, changed our theme, created Twitter, Facebook and MySpace accounts, and made plenty of other small changes. There’s plenty more in store for the future, including hosting and a personal domain.

The Team

As mentioned earlier, our team has expanded from the one-man army led by Igor Magun, to a group of eight dedicated people, many with differing tasks but all with one goal in mind: to make the blog experience as enjoyable as possible.

Igor Magun (Founder, Editor-in-Chief and Lead Administrator)

Igor is the person who started it all. He founded the blog and has been working hard to make it better ever since, setting himself responsibility for managing the technical side of the blog while still writing articles.

Conner Johnson (Editor-in-Chief, Motorsports Division)

When Conner first joined March 1st, 2010, his goal was to expand the motorsports coverage on The Blog of Cars. He successfully achieved this goal by starting up our This Weekend in Motorsports segment, as well as covering motorsports events between segments. With Conner’s goal in mind, Igor created the Motorsports Division of The Blog of Cars, and appointed Conner as Editor-in-Chief.

Alexandru Cascatau (Senior Editor)

Alexandru helped bring the blog back up on its feet when it was shut down October 20th, 2009. Igor shut it down because he couldn’t handle the workload. Alex then stepped up and offered to give him a hand. This inspired Igor to restart the blog, and by November 5th, 2009, we were back in business, with Alex bringing in new, bright ideas.

Tom Gregory (Executive Editor)

Tom joined in during the February 2010 surge of authors, and we instantly saw he was a gem. Perhaps he owes it to his education in journalism, or maybe he was just born to be an editor. Whatever it is, he quickly made his way up the ranks from Writer to Executive Editor.

Mike Serebrennikov (Writer)

Mike is the writer responsible for our Flickr Find of the Week segment. This segment has found some fantastic pictures on Flickr, and hopefully it will continue to do so.

Tina Coon (Writer)

When Tina joined, she gave The Blog of Cars someone to concentrate on articles mostly unrelated to news, as everyone else had their hands full with news. Many interesting pieces have been written by her ever since.

Antonio Cuellar (Writer)

Antonio joined in shortly after Tina, with the goal of writing opinion pieces for us while the rest of the team concentrated on their own particular tasks. Antonio has done everything from rants to praises, and we hope there is more to come.

Venturi Aite (Assistant Administrator)

Venturi Aite joined the team to help Igor out with some of the technical stuff behind the scenes, such as photo editing. You probably won’t see many posts from him, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t doing his part to improve the blog.
